Tetraphonics Saxophone Ensemble

Founded in 1994; the Tetraphonics Saxophone Ensemble plays in the line-up Steffen Hass (soprano saxophone), Elmar Frey (alto saxophone), Volker Ax (tenor saxophone) and Noah Bedrin (baritone saxophone). The members studied at music academies in the USA, the Netherlands and Germany. They play instruments and mouthpieces following Adolphe Sax’s original specifications in the sound tradition of Sigurd Raschèr. The repertoire comprises classical music, new music, jazz and crossover, to which are added projects with dance, recitation and music theatre. As freelance musicians the four play in German orchestras, among them the Gürzenich-Orchester Köln, the Orchester der Beethovenhalle Bonn, the Bochumer Symphoniker and several radio orchestras; the ensemble gives concerts in Europe and in the USA.
