Bernhard Haas

Organist / Music theorist

Born 1964; Bernhard Haas is a German organist, music theorist and teacher. He studied organ, piano, harpsichord, church music, composition and music theory in Cologne, Freiburg and Vienna and received, among other distinctions, a prize at the Liszt Competition in Budapest in 1988. After teaching in Saarbrücken he became professor of organ in Stuttgart in 1994; since 2012 he has taught at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. As a concert organist, teacher and author, Haas joins a widely spanned repertoire from Bach and the music of the seventeenth century to Reger, Stravinsky, Xenakis and the music of the present.
