Born 1973 in Hamburg; Carl Christian Bettendorf is a composer and conductor. He studied composition with Wolfgang Rihm among others and with Tristan Murail at Columbia University in New York, and teaches at Rowan University in New Jersey. His works have been performed on four continents. As a conductor he has worked with ensembles such as Wet Ink, Talea Ensemble, piano possibile and Ostravská banda, joining a precise sonic imagination to international ensemble practice.
