The choir of the Neanderkirche Düsseldorf was founded in 1961 by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and belongs to the musical life of the Protestant old town parish of Düsseldorf. Since 2003 the ensemble, today some 65 singers strong, has been directed by cantor Sebastian Klein. Alongside regular participation in services with a cultivated cantata tradition, the choir gives large oratorio concerts and studies a cappella repertoire from various periods. Performances of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Handel, Haydn, Mendelssohn and Brahms stand there beside contemporary choral music and first performances.
