Chor der Neanderkirche Düsseldorf

The Chor der Neanderkirche Düsseldorf was founded in 1961 by Oskar Gottlieb Blarr and belongs to the Protestant old-town parish of Düsseldorf. Since 2003 Kantor Sebastian Klein has directed the ensemble, which numbers some 65 singers. Besides taking part regularly in services with Bach cantatas, the choir presents one or two large oratorio concerts each year and develops a cappella repertoire from different periods. Among the works performed have been Händel’s “Messiah”, Bach’s “St John Passion” and “Christmas Oratorio”, Haydn’s “Die Schöpfung”, Mendelssohn’s “Paulus” and Brahms’s “Ein deutsches Requiem”, alongside contemporary choral music as well as world premieres and first performances. The choir can be heard on the Cybele album Günther Becker: Collected Works – Magnum Mysterium (2004).
