Born in Seville in 1584, or rather baptised there, died in Segovia in 1654; Francisco Correa de Arauxo was an organist, composer and music theorist. In 1599 he became organist of the collegiate church of San Salvador in Seville, where in the following years he was also ordained priest; in 1636 he moved to the cathedral of Jaén, in 1640 to the cathedral of Segovia. With the “Facultad organica”, published in 1626, he left a collection of tientos, combined with a theoretical treatise on Spanish organ art. On the Cybele album Vivi felice! (2003) he is represented as composer.
