Gabriel Nunez Arancibia

Gabriel Nunez Arancibia, born in Santiago de Chile in 1983, is a pianist, composer, arranger and music teacher. He studied piano with Ana Maria Cvitanic, won first prize in the composition competition of the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educacion (UMCE) in 2006 and in 2008 reached the final of the national Luis Advis competition with his orchestral work “La espera”. In 2008 he founded the Malevaje Orquesta Tipica in Chile, which he led as pianist, arranger and musical director, among other things with the dance company Proyectango; from 2009 to 2011 he assisted the conductor David del Pino Klinge with orchestras in Santiago, Montevideo and Caracas. He has lived in France since 2016 and completed a master’s degree in musicology at the Sorbonne in Paris; at Les Concerts de Poche he works as a composer, pianist and workshop leader. He has written arrangements for the Paris Percussion Groupe, the quintet ArteCombo and the string quartets Modigliani, Akilone, Hanson and Zahir; since 2021 he has been pianist of the Fracanapa New Tango Quintet. His more recent works include the suite “Nueva Tanda no. 1: Epopeya de la Liberacion de una Mujer”, the piano pieces “Danses Imaginaires” (2024) and the cantata “Loblied des Tanzes” for soloists, choir and tango ensemble, premiered in Magdeburg in 2025. On the hd-klassik album Piazzolla Resonances (2026) he can be heard as a pianist and, with his suite, as a composer.
