Jörg Waschinski was born in Berlin in 1966. He first studied church music and then turned to singing; as the first male soprano he completed a course of study with Renate Faltin at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. In 1996 he won the International Johann Heinrich Schmelzer Competition in Melk and received a special prize at the national singing competition in Berlin. His repertoire joins the Baroque, opera and contemporary music theatre; engagements have taken him to major opera houses and concert platforms in Europe.
