Judith Brandenburg is a bandoneonist, composer and pianist based in Berlin. She studied piano at the Universität der Künste Berlin and the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (concert diploma), followed by two years at Codarts Rotterdam with Carel Kraayenhof, Leo Vervelde and Gustavo Beytelmann. In 2005 she founded the Tangoduo Encuentro with the guitarist Diego Rial, in 2006 the Orquesta de Tango Qué Tangazo! and in 2009 the trio La Bicicleta. For many years she was the bandoneonist of the Fracanapa New Tango Quintet. Her compositions include the “Pater noster Tango” (2017) for mixed choir, solo soprano, bandoneon and string orchestra and the oratorio “House on Fire” (2022) on the climate crisis. In 2018 she received the first Krefelder Bandoneon-Preis.
