Jutta Ravenna

Sound artist / Composer

Born in Düsseldorf in 1960; Jutta Ravenna is a German sound artist and composer. She studied fine art and music at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. Her first compositions and experimental films date from 1986, her first sound objects from 1987; in 1991 she became a prizewinner of Musik Kreativ. She has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions. As a sound artist she works with visual and acoustic found objects from the environment, with human and technical artefacts, and explores the relationship between seeing and hearing on the borderline between music and the visual arts; her interactive sound systems are controlled by visitors via sensors, and the spatial context, architecture or nature, becomes part of the work. On the Cybele album DEGEM Vol. 3 – LeiseLaute (1997) she is represented with the title piece “LeiseLaute” (1994).
