Karel Coninx is a Belgian viola player whose focus lies in chamber music and contemporary music. After first violin studies in Hasselt he continued his training at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels, first on the violin and then on the viola with Paul Declerck; he took a performance diploma with Roger Chase at the Chicago College of Performing Arts. His artistic work joins the classical string quartet repertoire to new musical forms and cross-genre projects, among others with Musiques Nouvelles, The Colorist Orchestra and the Zenne Quartet. Together with the violinist Claire Bourdet he has curated the free chamber music series TW Classics 1190 in Brussels since 2013.
