Katrin McClean was born on 3 August 1963 in Gotha as Katrin Dorn. From 1984 she studied psychology at the University of Leipzig, worked as a psychologist in a Leipzig youth home, founded a youth theatre group in 1991 and was editor-in-chief of the literary magazine EDIT from 1993 to 1995. Under her former name there appeared, among others, “Der Hunger der Kellnerin” (1997), “Lügen und Schweigen” (2001) and “Tangogeschichten” (2002); since her marriage to the jazz singer Frank McClean in 2007 she has published under the name McClean, including a crime trilogy (2008–2011) and the novel “Aus dem Takt” (2020). From 2009 she wrote episodes of the audiobook series “Fünf Freunde”. Since 2001 she has led writing workshops for children, young people and adults. Cybele Records released the album Katrin Dorn: Tangogeschichten in 2004.
