Founded in Strasbourg in 1962 by Jean Batigne; Les Percussions de Strasbourg is an ensemble for contemporary percussion music with a line-up of six percussionists. More than 800 works have been written for the group, among others by Iannis Xenakis, Gérard Grisey, Kazimierz Serocki and Hugues Dufourt; the ensemble has been awarded the Grand Prix du Disque several times. Besides the concerts, its work includes education work with the Percustra workshops, partnerships with schools and conservatoires and the research laboratory PdSLaB. The ensemble is supported by the French Ministry of Culture, the city of Strasbourg and the Grand Est region.
