Lutz Glandien

Born in 1954, Lutz Glandien is a Berlin composer and musician in the fields of experimental song theatre, electroacoustic music and sound art. From 1977 to 1983 he was pianist and composer of the Dresdner Schicht-Theater; he then studied contemporary composition at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler with Wolfram Heicking and from 1985 to 1987 in the master class of the Akademie der Künste with Georg Katzer. His early orchestral works include a tuba concerto (1987). Since the end of the 1980s he has built his own instruments, works in the studio with electroacoustic procedures and has written music for more than 150 radio works, documentary films, art videos and exhibitions. He worked with the percussionist Chris Cutler and developed his virtualectric stories; his CDs include Domestic Stories (1992), Scenes from no Marriage (1994) and The 5th Elephant (2002). He has received composition prizes and fellowships in Paris, Berlin, Cologne, Aarhus and Tokyo. On the Cybele album DEGEM Vol. 3 – LeiseLaute (1997) he is represented as composer and performer.
