* 1971; German clarinettist; he studied with Eduard Brunner, Hans-Dietrich Klaus and Hans Deinzer and was twice selected for the Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junger Künstler. In 1999 he received the Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy-Preis der deutschen Musikhochschulen. Since 2003 he has been principal clarinettist of the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich; as a guest he has played with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam, among others. Since 2005 he has devoted himself to historical clarinets and to chamber music on these instruments. Since 2013 he has taught as professor of wind chamber music at the Kunstuniversität Graz; in 2015/16 he held a professorship of clarinet at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen. On the album Portrait Graham Waterhouse (2001) he can be heard on the clarinet in chamber music by the composer.
