Born in Munich on 11 June 1864, died in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 8 September 1949; Richard Strauss was a German composer and conductor. In 1885 he went to Meiningen through Hans von Bülow. He became known with the tone poems “Don Juan” (1889), “Till Eulenspiegels lustige Streiche” (1894/95) and “Also sprach Zarathustra” (1896); in 1898 he became First Prussian Kapellmeister at the Berlin Court Opera. There followed the operas “Salome” (1903 to 1905), “Elektra” (1906 to 1908), which began his collaboration with Hugo von Hofmannsthal, and “Der Rosenkavalier” (1909/10). From 1919 to 1924 he directed the Vienna State Opera together with Franz Schalk; in 1933 he became president of the Reichsmusikkammer and was forced to resign in 1935. His late works include the “Metamorphosen” (1945) and the “Vier letzte Lieder” (1948). On the gala recording Doc Heilein and Friends Gala 2023 – Ich will keine Schokolade (2023) Ricardo Marinello sings his song “Morgen!” op. 27 no. 4 (1894) to a poem by John Henry Mackay, together with Dragos Manza.
