Roswitha von den Driesch

Roswitha von den Driesch was born in Saarburg in 1964. She studied architecture in Mainz and, from 1992 to 1999, fine art at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee with Inge Mahn (diploma and master student), and in 1993/94 attended seminars at the Electroacoustic Studio of the Technische Universität Berlin with Robin Minard. Since 1996 she has developed sound installations and videos with the musician and composer Jens-Uwe Dyffort that examine the acoustic, historical and spatial properties of a place. In 2006 the two received the Deutscher Klangkunstpreis and in 2012 the Experimentalfilmpreis Ruhr; in 2018 she took part in the Hill End Artists in Residence Program in Australia. From 2007 to 2020 she led workshops on sound art, among others at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle and the Universität der Künste Berlin. With Dyffort she is represented on the album DEGEM Vol. 8 – 90 Seconds of Reality (Cybele Records, 2005). Von den Driesch lives and works in Berlin and Wittstock.
