Born in Viernheim on 29 July 1957; Ulrich Tukur is an actor, musician and author. After his Abitur in Hanover in 1977 and a high school diploma in Boston he studied German, English and history in Tübingen and trained as an actor from 1980 to 1983 at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart. From 1985 to 1995 he belonged to the ensemble of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg under Peter Zadek; in 1986 the magazine “Theater heute” voted him Actor of the Year. From 1995 to 2003 he ran the Hamburger Kammerspiele together with Ulrich Waller. He made his film debut in 1982 in “Die weiße Rose”, followed by “Das Leben der Anderen” (2006) and “John Rabe” (2009), among others; since 2010 he has played the Tatort detective Felix Murot. In 1995 he founded the band Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys; his first novel “Der Ursprung der Welt” appeared in 2019. Honours: the O.-E.-Hasse-Preis (1985), the Goldener Bär of the Berlinale (1986), the Goldene Kamera (1996), the Adolf-Grimme-Preis (2000), the Deutscher Fernsehpreis (2004), the Deutscher Filmpreis (2006 and 2009). For Cybele he narrated the audiobook Gert Jonke: Der Kopf des Georg Friedrich Händel in 2009 and a text on Mirjam Wiesemann: Auf Flügeln in die Tiefe – Geschichten vom Aufwachsen in 2010.
