Virgilio Exposito

Virgilio Exposito was born on 3 May 1924 in Zarate in the province of Buenos Aires and died on 25 October 1997 in Buenos Aires. He began as a pianist in youth jazz groups and belonged to the Argentine tango generation of the 1940s. With his brother, the poet Homero Exposito, he wrote his first tango at the age of 14 and created numerous tangos and valses, among them “Naranjo en flor”, “Farol”, “Maquillaje” and “Vete de mi”. At the age of 23 he directed the orchestra of Radio Splendid; as an arranger and producer he worked for eight years in Brazil for RCA Victor, among other things, and founded the record labels Azur and Pincén. In the film “Funes, un gran amor” he took part as an actor and in the film music. In 1995 he received the Konex-Diploma al Mérito as a tango author and composer.
