Virgilio Expósito

Virgilio Hugo Expósito was born in Zárate in the province of Buenos Aires on 3 May 1924 and died in 1997. He began as a pianist in youth jazz groups and became one of the distinctive voices of the Argentine tango generation of the 1940s. With his brother, the poet Homero Expósito, he created numerous tangos and valses, among them “Naranjo en flor”, “Farol”, “Maquillaje” and “Vete de mí”. As arranger, bandleader and producer he worked for Radio Splendid and RCA Víctor, among others; in 1995 he received the Konex Diploma al Mérito as tango author and composer.
