Born in South Korea in 1966; Yong Joon Yang is a composer of electronic music. In 1997 he took his composition examination at the Presbyterian Theological University in Seoul; from 1998 he studied electronic music at the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media of the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen with Ludger Brümmer and Dirk Reith. In the Cybele catalogue he appears on ex machina Vol. 6 – The Nineties (2001) with “grau & blau” (1999/2000), a piece about an inner voice realised with algorithmic structures in Common Music, which works with the rhythmic proportions 1:1:1.5:0.5 and a sound sample from a computer game and was performed in Essen and at the Logos Foundation in Ghent, and on the audiobook Mirjam Wiesemann: Weht ein Stadtspaziergang durch den Traum (2014).
