American Brass Quintet

The American Brass Quintet was founded in 1960 and is one of the formative ensembles of international brass chamber music. With more than 150 first performances and over sixty recordings, the ensemble has decisively extended the contemporary repertoire for brass quintet. Since 1970 it has been Ensemble in Residence of the Aspen Music Festival and School, combining concert activity with intensive teaching. Its unmistakable sound profile rests on a scoring of two trumpets, horn, tenor trombone and bass trombone, and on a consistent commitment to original chamber music.
