Born 1962; Andreas Wagner is a German composer, saxophonist and clarinettist. He studied composition with Johannes Fritsch at the Hochschule für Musik Köln and has worked since the late 1980s in the field of tension between new music and free improvisation. His output ranges from precisely notated pieces for solo instruments, ensembles and orchestra to electronics, open forms, video and sound sculptures. Wagner understands performance space and audience as co-shaping elements of his musical concepts and joins compositional work to an independent instrumental practice.
