Born 1951 in Rotterdam; Arie van Beek is a Dutch conductor and music teacher. After training as a percussionist he turned to conducting and studied with Edo de Waart and David Porcelijn at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He has been music director of the Orchestre National d’Auvergne, the Orchestre de Picardie and the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, among others, and for many years a conductor and teacher at Codarts Rotterdam. His repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the present day; for his artistic work he has been honoured with the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, among other distinctions.
