Benoît Haller

Born in Alsace in 1972, Benoît Haller is a tenor, conductor and music teacher. He studied ensemble direction with Hans Michael Beuerle at the Musikhochschule Freiburg and graduated in 1996 with the distinction of the examination board; from 1994 to 1997 he studied singing with Hélène Roth in Strasbourg, and from 1997 with Beata Heuer-Christen, Gerd Heinz and Hans Peter Müller in Freiburg, where he gained the diploma as an opera tenor in 2002. In 2000 he sang Ferrando in Mozart’s “Cosi fan tutte”, and in 2002 the title role in Britten’s “Albert Herring”. In 2001 he founded the German-French ensemble for early music La Chapelle Rhénane, which he has directed ever since; it first presented four recordings of works by Heinrich Schütz, and from 2007 Johann Sebastian Bach and later repertoire followed. Since 2021 he has directed the Festival Voix et Route Romane. On the Cybele album Gert Jonke: Der Kopf des Georg Friedrich Händel (2009) he sings the part of Arete.
