Carole Bayer Sager is a songwriter and singer. In 1987 she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Her relationship with the composer Marvin Hamlisch was the basis of the long-running hit musical “They’re Playing Our Song”; with Burt Bacharach, to whom she was married for ten years, she won the Grammy for Song of the Year for “That’s What Friends Are For”. For “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)”, written with Burt Bacharach, Christopher Cross and Peter Allen, she received the 1982 Academy Award for Best Original Song. On the gala recording Doc Heilein and Friends Gala 2023 – Ich will keine Schokolade (2023) Sarah Bouwers and Ricardo Marinello sing “The Prayer” from the animated film “Quest for Camelot” (1998); she wrote the music with David Foster, and the lyrics with him, Tony Renis and Alberto Testa. The song was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Golden Globe.
