Born in Victoria, British Columbia, on 1 November 1949; David Foster is a producer, composer and arranger. In 1972 he had a Top Ten hit in Canada and the United States with the band Skylark and “Wildflower”; in the 1980s he produced and wrote numerous number-one hits, among them Chicago’s “Hard to Say I’m Sorry”. He has won 16 Grammys and five Juno Awards, was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2002 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010, and is an Officer of the Order of Canada; in 2012 he became chairman of the jazz label Verve Music Group. On the gala recording Doc Heilein and Friends Gala 2023 – Ich will keine Schokolade (2023) Sarah Bouwers and Ricardo Marinello sing “The Prayer” from the animated film “Quest for Camelot” (1998); he wrote the music with Carole Bayer Sager, and the lyrics with her, Tony Renis and Alberto Testa. The song was nominated for an Academy Award and won the Golden Globe.
