Only a few facts about the life of the Italian High Baroque composer Domenico Maria Dreyer are secure; the sources place him roughly between 1680 and 1740. He was the son of the German tenor Johann Conrad Dreyer and was closely associated professionally with his brother Giovanni Filippo Dreyer, among other places at the courts of Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Six sonatas for oboe and basso continuo and two sonatas for recorder and basso continuo survive. These works are assigned to the Venetian-influenced High Baroque and were probably written around 1725.
