The Ensemble Ascolta was founded in 2003 and is based in Stuttgart. Its scoring with trumpet, trombone, cello, two pianos or keyboards, guitars and percussion is geared towards collaboration with composers of the present day. Ascolta has initiated and premiered more than 250 works for this scoring, among others by Pierluigi Billone, Chaya Czernowin, Beat Furrer and Isabel Mundry, and appears at festivals such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, the Festival ECLAT, the Lucerne Festival, Wien Modern and Ultima Oslo. Alongside concert programmes the ensemble develops staged and multimedia projects, among them the children’s music theatre piece “7 Zwerge”, and runs composition workshops with European music academies. On Cybele Records Ascolta is represented on the album Rolf Riehm: aprikosenbäume gibt es, aprikosenbäume gibt es (2008).
