Ensemble Ascolta was founded in Stuttgart in 2003 and is one of the distinctive groups for contemporary chamber music in Germany. Its unusual scoring, with an emphasis on brass and percussion, creates a sound profile of its own and is designed for collaboration with composers of the present day. Ascolta has prompted and premiered more than 250 works and appears regularly at festivals such as the Donaueschinger Musiktage, the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, the ECLAT festival, the Lucerne Festival and Wien Modern. Alongside concert programmes the ensemble develops staged and multimedia projects and brings new music to audiences in collaboration with conservatoires and young composers.
