Ensemble recherche

Ensemble Recherche was founded in Freiburg in 1985 and is one of the formative European groups for new music. Its nine soloists devote themselves to the unknown and the contemporary, have given the first performances of nearly 1,000 works and released some 60 recordings. Their repertoire spans an arc from classical modernism and the Darmstadt schools by way of spectralism and the experimental avant-garde to new works by young composers. Alongside international guest appearances the ensemble develops its own concert series, educational formats and, together with the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Ensemble Academy in Freiburg.
