Ernst-August Schepmann

Born in Hattingen on 21 June 1931; Ernst-August Schepmann is an actor and speaker. After his Abitur in 1951 at the Gymnasium Waldstraße in Hattingen he studied from 1951 to 1953 at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and began his career at the Theater im Zimmer and at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. Permanent engagements took him to the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden (1953–1960), the Schauspiel Frankfurt (1960–1963 and 1985–1990), the Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart (1963–1969 and 1979–1985), the Staatstheater Hannover (1969–1979) and, from 1990, the Schauspiel Köln; he acted in the theatre for around 50 years, among other places also in Munich, Berlin and Vienna. Alongside his stage work he appeared in numerous film and television productions, among them “Steckbriefe” (1982) and as Professor König in the series “Die Insel” (1987), and works as an audiobook speaker. In 2006 Cybele released the audiobook Martin Baltscheit: Vom Mädchen das nicht schlafen wollte, on which he speaks the narrator. His son Philipp Schepmann is likewise an actor and speaker.
