Federigo Fiorillo

Federigo Fiorillo was born in Braunschweig in 1755 and died after 1823. The musician of Italian origin was trained by his father Ignazio Fiorillo and began his career as a mandolin player and violin virtuoso. His career took him to Saint Petersburg, Poland, Riga, Paris and London, where he belonged to the Salomon-Quartett as a viola player and appeared as a soloist at the Ancient Concerts. His duos, trios, quartets and violin concertos belong to the music of the late 18th century; particularly well known to this day are the 36 Caprices for violin, which are part of the classic study repertoire.
