Born in Soest on 27 October 1950; Friedrich Jaecker is a composer and musicologist. At the Hochschule für Musik Detmold he studied piano, composition, music theory, musicology and music education; from 1975 to 1977 he continued his composition studies with György Ligeti at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg while studying musicology at the University of Hamburg. From 1977 to 2019 he taught composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. He composes instrumental and vocal music; his musicological work is devoted above all to Giacinto Scelsi and to sixteenth-century counterpoint. As a performer he took part in a complete recording of Morton Feldman’s works for several pianos. In the Cybele catalogue an album of its own is devoted to him: Portrait Friedrich Jaecker appeared in 2001.
