Born 1953 in Munich; Hans-Jürgen von Bose is a German composer. After piano and theory lessons at the Hoch Conservatory he studied composition with Hans Ulrich Engelmann and piano and conducting with Klaus Billing in Frankfurt from 1972. His first string quartet was premiered in 1974; from 1976 he worked freelance in Munich and from 1992 to 2015 taught as professor of composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. His work unfolds a many-sided relationship between colour, form and musical memory.
