Born in Weimar in 1966; Hans Tutschku is a German composer of electroacoustic music. At the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden he studied composition of electronic music; from 1989 he took part in concert cycles of Karlheinz Stockhausen. In 1991/92 he studied sonology and electroacoustic composition at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and in 1994 spent a year as a fellow at IRCAM in Paris. In 2003 he took his doctorate with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham. He taught as a guest professor in Weimar in 1995/96, from 1997 to 2001 at IRCAM and from 2001 to 2004 at the conservatory in Montbeliard; since 2004 he has been professor of composition at Harvard University and directs the electroacoustic studios there. He has been honoured among others at the competitions of Bourges and CIMESP Sao Paulo, with the Prix Ars Electronica and in 2005 with the culture prize of the city of Weimar.
