Heinz-Josef Florian

Composer

German composer of electroacoustic music. Born in 1955, he works with computer-aided sound synthesis. One group of works is formed by his Tapesessions based on recordings of his daughter’s voice: in “Hannah’s Tapesession IIa” (1995) he rebuilds the voice from its envelopes with Csound and software of his own, through resynthesis and through voice synthesis with the FOF algorithm; in the original it is heard only right at the end as a brief exclamation, while precisely the most song-like passages are purely synthetic. Further pieces are “Einwahl” (2002) and “Eurydikes Schrei” (2007). Four albums connect him with Cybele. Three of them are volumes of the DEGEM series with which the label documents the work of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Elektroakustische Musik: Ausbruch Aufbruch (1998), 90 Seconds of Reality (2005) and Orpheus 400 (2007). To these is added a contribution to the audiobook production Weht ein Stadtspaziergang durch den Traum (2014).
