He completed his studies in sound and image engineering at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf and the former Fachhochschule Düsseldorf in 1999, with piano as his principal subject. He founded Cybele Records in 1994 while still studying; in 2011 the label hd-klassik for audiophile productions was added. He has worked with surround since the 1990s and with DSD since 2004, and with them 3D binaural stereo, Ambisonics and Dolby Atmos. He has been responsible for several hundred SACD and CD productions, among them more than a hundred surround recordings and more than fifty three-dimensional binaural productions; they have been honoured with ECHO Klassik prizes, a Grammy nomination, the Diapason d’Or, the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik and the MIDEM Classical Awards among others. As Recording Producer his name stands under almost every production in the catalogue. In the artist columns of the catalogue he appears on three audiobooks of the Wort&Musik series: on Vera Forester: Ich möchte lachen vor Todesschmerz – Robert Schumanns letzter Weg (2005) and Martin Baltscheit: Vom Mädchen das nicht schlafen wollte (2006), whose recordings he supervised as Recording Producer, and on Mirjam Wiesemann: Auf Flügeln in die Tiefe – Geschichten vom Aufwachsen (2010), where as a speaker he reads the titles and the reported speech in the linking texts.
