Born 1968 in Dortmund; Jens Brand is a German sound artist and visual artist. After studying at the Kunstakademie Münster he founded the artists’ initiative mex e. V. in 1992 and was its artistic director until 2006. From 2013 to 2023 he was professor at the Kunsthochschule Kassel; he now teaches sound art at the Kunsthochschule Braunschweig. His video and sound installations join technical invention, visual thinking and a marked sensitivity to acoustic spaces.
