Joachim Heintz

Born in Braunschweig in 1961, Joachim Heintz is a German composer and sound artist at the intersection of instrumental music, electronics and software. After studying literature and art history in Braunschweig and Hamburg he studied composition in Bremen from 1995 with Younghi Pagh-Paan and Günter Steinke and deepened his work with electronic music and media there. His compositions range from concert and theatre music through sound installations to intermedia works; at the same time he directs the electronic studio of the Incontri institute at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover and teaches audio programming at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen. As a co-developer of Csound and CsoundQt, Heintz joins artistic practice, open tools and a precise reflection on sound, technology and space.
