Born 1954 in Lörrach; Karl Friedrich Gerber is a German composer and sound artist. He studied musicology, double bass and physics and has devoted himself since the 1980s to algorithmic real-time composition. His works join live electronics, interactive sound installations and instrumental music into open, responsive forms. With his research and composition projects, among them an award at the Bourges competition in 1994, he is one of the independent voices of computer-assisted music.
