Louis Détry was a bassoonist and composer active in the first half of the 18th century; his origins are not known with certainty. He worked as a bassoonist first in Braunschweig and in Würzburg and entered the service of the Württemberg court in 1727. Only a single manuscript by him is known, a Sonata in C minor for recorder and basso continuo preserved in Rostock. Because of its technical demands it may be the transcription of a bassoon sonata that Détry wrote for his own use; it combines the mixed style of its time with fast, rhythmically pointed movements in the manner of Vivaldi. On the Cybele album Dreyer. Détry. Vivaldi: Sonatas for Solo Instruments and b.c. (2019) Renata Duarte plays this sonata.
