Lucas Gerin was born in Angers, France, in 1991 and lives and works in Stuttgart. Already during his bachelor’s studies in Toulouse he directed his work towards new music and collaboration with composers. At the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart he completed master’s degrees in solo percussion and new music and prepared first performances of works by Peter Ablinger, Martin Schüttler and Philipp Krebs, among others. As a member of Pony Says and sh|ft and in collaboration with Ensemble Ascolta he joins improvisation, precise chamber music communication and the sonic openness of contemporary percussion practice; appearances have taken him to festivals such as Wien Modern, Ultraschall, Eclat and the Donaueschinger Musiktage.
