Manfred Siebald

Born on 26 October 1948 in Baumbach; Manfred Siebald is a German singer-songwriter and scholar of American studies. He studied English and German in Marburg, where he received his doctorate in American studies in 1977, and taught at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 1977 to 2012, from 2002 as professor of American studies. His first single was released in 1970; among his best-known songs are “Ins Wasser fällt ein Stein” and “Geh unter der Gnade”, and his songs appear in church hymnals. He wrote the German lyrics for Cae Gauntt’s album “Welt von 1000 Wegen” (1995), and in 2008 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. On the gala recording Doc Heilein and Friends Gala 2023 – Ich will keine Schokolade (2023) Matthias Heilein sings “Was uns bleibt”, for which he wrote the lyrics and which Cae Gauntt recorded in 1991 on her album “The Circle Of Love”.
