Born in Cremlingen on 22 October 1949; Manfred Trojahn is a composer. He first studied flute and percussion in Braunschweig, then composition with Diether de la Motte at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. In 1979/80 he held a fellowship at the Villa Massimo in Rome. From 1991 to 2018 he taught as professor of composition at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf; his pupils include Yasuko Yamaguchi. He belonged to the composers who in the 1970s sought a new turn towards tradition. His output comprises operas such as Enrico and La Grande Magia, symphonies, concertos, chamber music and vocal works. In the Cybele catalogue his music is heard on Incontri – Encounters (2000), played by Christiane Lorenz and Thomas Leander.
