Born on 11 July 1965; Marcus Antonius Wesselmann is a German composer. From 1986 he lived in Essen. After his Abitur he studied composition with Wolfgang Hufschmidt and electronic composition with Dirk Reith at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen from 1985 to 1992; during this period he gained experience in interdisciplinary projects and wrote music for choreographies, plays and films. After his studies he was musical director of the premiere of Alfred Jarry’s “Leda” at the Prinz-Regent-Theater in Bochum, and in 1993 he wrote the music for Volker Schröder’s documentary film “… wenn ich in die Tiefe schaue”. With a postgraduate scholarship from the Folkwang-Hochschule in 1993/94 he worked on his opera “PREPARADISE”, which he completed in August 1994; since 1994 he has been a freelance composer. In the Cybele catalogue he appears on ex machina Vol. 3 – trans (1997) with “In the mix” (1991), a piece built from sequences, and on the audiobook Mirjam Wiesemann: Weht ein Stadtspaziergang durch den Traum (2014).
