Markus Lepper is a composer and author of theoretical writings. He studied composition with Wolfgang Hufschmidt and electronic composition with Dirk Reith at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen; at the time of publication he worked in research and development in computer science at the Technische Universität Berlin. In his large electronic compositions he uses a wide variety of analogue and digital synthesis and processing techniques; each technique is assigned a precise meaning, which Wolfgang Hufschmidt calls a “metaphor”, so that inputs and outputs can be combined contrapuntally in many ways and even extra-musical material finds its place. On the Cybele album ex machina Vol. 5 – The Eighties (2001) he is represented with the “FM Suite” (1987).
