Michael Hablitzel

Cellist

Born in Waiblingen in 1966, Michael Hablitzel is a cellist. He studied with Rudolf Gleißner in Stuttgart and with Johannes Goritzki in Düsseldorf, where he took his concert diploma; chamber music studies with the Melos Quartet completed his training. After posts with the Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss and the Philharmonisches Orchester Bielefeld he has been sub-principal cello of the Sinfonieorchester Wuppertal since 1996. From 2005 to 2022 he taught cello and orchestral studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Wuppertal campus, and also devotes himself intensively to chamber music and improvised music.
