Born in Moscow in 1960; Natalja Psenitsnikova works as a flautist, singer, composer and performer and takes part in theatre and dance projects. She received piano lessons from the age of three, studied flute at the Central Music School in Moscow – alongside a ballet training – and took the soloist’s examination at the State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. Her fields of work include the vocal works of Giacinto Scelsi and Iannis Xenakis as well as premieres of works by Johannes Fritsch, Peter Ablinger, Bernhard Lang, Klaus Lang, Sergej Newski and Anna Ikramova. She has appeared at the Biennale di Venezia, the Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wien Modern, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, the Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus and the Berliner Festwochen. Recordings have appeared with ECM Records, Col Legno, Melodiya and Art&Elektronika; for Cybele she recorded flute works by Johannes Fritsch in the series feedback studio series. She is also the author of her own compositions, sound actions and multimedia projects.
