Born in Balashikha near Moscow on 5 February 1966; Anna Ikramova is a composer and church musician. As a child she attended the music school at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where she studied composition, music theory and clarinet from 1983 to 1988. In 1990 she moved to Germany and from 1991 to 1996 studied at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, composition with Wolfgang Hufschmidt and electronic composition with Dirk Reith; in 1996 she passed her final artistic examination. Studies in music education followed, focusing on composition, piano and church music and completed with diplomas in music education and the B examination in church music. Since April 2011 she has been church musician of the Stiftung Eben-Ezer and a member of the chamber for church music of the Lippische Landeskirche. In 1998 she received the promotion prize of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 2000 a third prize of the Deutscher Musikrat for “Chor”; in Essen her music theatre piece “Spiel mit Liedern” was premiered in 1999 and the opera “Der schlafende Reiter” in 2000. In the Cybele catalogue her music is represented on three albums: ex machina Vol. 3 – trans (1997) with “Einstimmig …” (1997), Anna Ikramova: Der schlafende Reiter DVD (2000), the recording of the Essen performance of this opera to a libretto by Wolfram Eggeling, directed by Svetlana Fourer, and DEGEM Vol. 8 – 90 Seconds of Reality (2005) with “Klangkulissen” (2003).
