Der schlafende Reiter is a virtual musical stage work by Anna Ikramova, based on a libretto by Wolfram Eggeling. In a multifaceted interplay of music, images, objects, speech, dance and video, the production follows a dream figure on a journey through changing spaces and states.
Literary fragments and scenic images do not form a linear narrative, but an atmospheric course. Reality and imagination, destructive experiences, labyrinthine intermediate spaces and utopian counter-images overlap. The DVD preserves the distinctive spatial and visual conception of this multimedia work.
