Ruth Weber

Soprano

German soprano; at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen she studied school music with a focus on voice under Claudia Rüggeberg, passed the state examination in 1997 and also studied music theatre from 1996 to 2000. In conservatory productions she sang Zelmira in Haydn’s “Armida” in 1997 and Papagena in 1998; in 1998 she was Vespetta in Telemann’s “Pimpione” in Krefeld, and in 2002 Martirio in Aribert Reimann’s “Bernarda Albas Haus” at the Stadttheater Bern. In 2002 she was also part of the cast of Anna Ikramova’s “Der schlafende Reiter” at the 6-Tage-Oper festival in Düsseldorf. Her focus is contemporary music; in world premieres by Georg Friedrich Haas she sang Sappho in “Nocturno” at the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn in 2013 and Michaela in “Koma” in 2016. On the album Anna Ikramova: Der schlafende Reiter DVD (2000) she takes part in the recording of the Essen performance.
