Born 1976 in Freiburg im Breisgau; Roman Pfeifer joins instrumental and electronic composition to contemporary music theatre. At the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen he studied with Nicolaus A. Huber and Dirk Reith; he teaches music theory and electronic composition there. In 2012 he founded the company Kammerelektronik, whose concert performances bring together sound, instrumental gesture, dance, voice, light and space. The result is chamber-scale work in which visible movement belongs to the composition as much as what is heard. In „drawing a straight line in a curved universe“ for seven instruments, dance, electronics and light he took up Merce Cunningham’s idea of an electronic dance notation.
